Job Summary:

To drive the successful transformation of the business in becoming a world-class sourcing organization by strategically managing business relationships and delivering business strategies at the program and operational level through core sourcing competencies. To effectively manage the pre-production and production elements of the assigned product category, while leading and coaching a team of Senior Merchandisers and Merchandisers. To partner with global counterparts in ensuring that all business goals and objectives are met, including but not limited to AUC and on-time delivery targets.


Key Accountabilities:

  • To support the execution of business strategies relating to the Company’s transformation initiatives
  • To effectively partner with the US Sourcing team in realizing sourcing strategies in Asia
  • To own capacity planning responsibilities for the assigned product category
  • To diligently monitor pre-production and production operations and escalate/rectify issues in prompt and sound manner
  • To achieve the desired first and final costs for the assigned product category
  • To oversee vendor and factory allocation and carry out all product approval milestones (Development Submits, Fit, PP, Color Management, Submit Tracking, Approval Status, Risk Escalation)
  • To effectively build and maintain strong business relationships with vendors and mills
  • To carry out PO Acknowledgement & Maintenance responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner
  • To oversee Delivery Management and ensure Production/WIP & Ex-Factory schedules are adhered to for
    the assigned product category
  • To correctly conduct Fabric Commitments and Bulk Order Confirmation for the assigned product category

Technical Skills:


  • Understanding of basic cost components (e.g., CM, Fabric, Yield, Consumption, Trim) in order to calculate accurate
    Landed Cost

  • Understanding of Landed Cost calculation elements (e.g. duty, freight, mode) and competency to calculate Landed Cost
  • Understanding of HTS codes and duty rates by product category and country of origin
  • Appreciation for detailed PO maintenance and data integrity in an ERP system
  • Proactive monitoring of on-time delivery status to DC and Floorset
  • Ability to clearly articulate Floorset risk and options to Sourcing counterparts
  • Appreciation of production timelines based on product category and style elements
  • Ability to articulate chase allocation recommendations based by leveraging production status knowledge
  • Understanding of global labor rates and other macroeconomic factors with direct effects on Sourcing
  • Understand product testing requirements and protocols
  • Understanding of freight tables, freight rates, and various transit matrices
  • Understanding of cost components for negotiation and ability to leverage all cost opportunities

Education and Experience:

  • 7 years of relevant experience in garment/textiles design, development and/or production
  • 4 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role
  • Diploma or above credential in Fashion Design, Clothing/Textiles, or related discipline
  • Solid background in apparel sourcing from pre-production to production
  • Experience in children’s wear is highly preferred
  • Strong background in developing and maintaining vendor and mill relationships
  • Solid background in executing various sourcing strategies (e.g. country migration, vendor consolidation, etc.)
  • Solid background in commodity research & analysis
  • Exposure in fabric and trims management: R&D, Source, Negotiate, Initial Testing
  • Exposure in vendor scorecarding and remedies development
  • Comprehensive experience in sample allocation, ordering & tracking, and product approvals
  • Comprehensive experience in first cost, cost negotiations, and bidding
  • High level of familiarity of Product Safety/Technology standards for children’s apparel and/or products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Great command of both verbal and written English skills
